Shrimp Sizes and the Best Use for Each
A simple guide to shrimp sizes and the dishes each suits best.
Shrimp is usually graded by count per pound — the lower the number, the larger the shrimp:
• Large sizes: ideal for grilling and main dishes.
• Medium sizes: great for appetisers, pasta and rice.
• Small sizes: excellent for salads, soups and fillings.
Thaw frozen shrimp in the fridge or under cold running water, and never refreeze after thawing to preserve quality and safety.
